How to find your booking reference (PNR)

Everything about the six-character code that unlocks your booking — what it is, where to find it, and how to use it on SkyBook.

Updated 6 October 2026

What is a booking reference?

A booking reference — also called a Passenger Name Record (PNR) or record locator — is a unique code assigned to your reservation by the airline or travel system that issued it. SKyBook uses this code to look up your itinerary.

It is usually six characters long and mixes letters and numbers (for example GHY7KL). Because the code is unique to each booking, it is the safest and quickest way to retrieve your trip without an account or password.

A booking reference is different from an e-ticket number. The e-ticket number is a separate 13-digit numeric code that serves as proof of payment for an issued ticket.

Where to find it

Your booking reference appears in several places. The most common are:

  • Your booking confirmation email — it usually appears after the words “Booking reference” or “PNR”.
  • Your e-ticket — shown near the passenger details at the top of the PDF.
  • Your boarding pass — printed and digital versions both carry it.
  • The airline's website or app under “Manage Booking” if you booked directly with them.

Tips for using your code on SkyBook

Enter the code exactly as shown — letters and numbers only, with no spaces or special characters. Upper and lower case both work; we match it automatically.

If you cannot find your reference, double-check your inbox spam or promotions folders. Still stuck? Message our Customer Support team from the chat widget and we'll help you trace it.
